I'm Oliver Last, a qualified teacher with a rich background in education, having dedicated the past six years to teaching across Key Stage 2.

My journey has been marked by successful experiences in tutoring, where I've had the privilege of helping students reach their full potential.

In 2025 I am excited to continue expanding my tuition services, aiming to empower even more students through personalised learning experiences that foster academic excellence and personal growth.

Outside of the classroom, I cherish time spent outdoors, embracing nature and exploring new landscapes whenever I can. Indoors, my passions are just as vibrant—I am an avid reader, a Lego enthusiast and an adventurous cook, always eager to experiment with new recipes.   • I specialise in tutoring KS2 Subjects, specifically tailored for Year 5 and 6 pupils aiming to meet age-related expectations and achieve the expected standard in their end-of-year assessments and SATs tests and 11+ Exams. My focus is on building strong foundations, boosting confidence, and preparing students for the transition to secondary school.

    While I mainly tutor students in KS2 , feel free to enquire about other subjects or levels, as I may be able to accommodate your needs or provide a referral to a trusted colleague.

  • Online tutoring is conducted through Google Meets, a secure video conferencing platform. I use interactive tools like virtual whiteboards and shared documents to create an engaging and productive learning environment. From my time teaching in Year 6 I have supported pupils in achieving their best in maths and make progress before moving on to secondary school. I now tutor full time and additionally I now support students with the 11+ exams.

Each programme is built to monitor and aid progress over time by highlighting the specific needs of your child, focusing on strengthening their understanding and confidence week on week.

    My aim for SATs is to help students reach age-related expectations or above and achieve at least the expected standard by the end of the year. Additionally, I prepare them for the transition to secondary school, ensuring they have solid foundations.

    My aim with 11+ exams is to support students in achieving their desired score in the entrance exams so that they can attend their chosen secondary school.

    Every session includes targeted exercises, interactive discussions, and regular assessments to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies as needed.

  • I adapt my teaching methods to suit your child's learning style. By incorporating various techniques and resources, I ensure that each session resonates with the student and facilitates effective learning.

  • I understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel a session you can do so at any time beforehand.

    So your child does not miss out, you can arrange for them to join a session later that week or they can attend any of my drop in sessions to ensure they stay on track.

  • Yes, I assign homework and additional practice every week, but I aim to keep it manageable and relevant. Your child will receive a homework plan when they start.

    The homework that's set will help:

    • To reinforce what we cover in each session, providing an opportunity for your child to practice independently.

    • To reactivate prior knowledge about each topic coming up in future sessions so pupils feel well prepared and feel confident.

  • I track progress through regular assessments, quizzes, and feedback from the student. I also keep open communication with you to discuss achievements, areas for improvement, and any adjustments needed to the tutoring plan. I believe in setting clear goals and working collaboratively to achieve them.
